Melissa Spring Curras
Melissa is a life long computer lover. Her first computer was at the age of 13, during the time of green screens and DOS. Over the years Melissa learned to build computers and install and modify various operating systems such as Linux Red Hat and Windows 2000. She received her BS in Evolution and Ecology in 2001 and attended 2 years of graduate school in Physics where she learned PERL and how to modify Linux drivers.
While in graduate school she became engaged and decided that physics was not the career she wanted. While employed at the Collection Bureau of America in Hayward, CA as a IT Analyst, she moved with her fiance to Southern California when he was hired at L-3 Communications. Melissa put her education and career on hold to begin a family.
When her two children were diagnosed with Autism, Melissa began to volunteer in the Special Needs community. She organized a support group on meetup.com for parents of children with special needs and volunteers with the Autism Society San Diego Chapter to organize fund raising events and support groups.
She has worked with Good Karma Applications as a consultant in technological research and maintaining user support for their apps. Now, Melissa is helping to develop Schofield Productions, LLC, a mental healthcare education company, still in the early planning stages of production.
Melissa's main areas of expertise are technological problem solving, IT and logistical analysis. However, in her spare time, she enjoys reading, writing poetry, abstract painting, and Mommy Nights Out.
